SEA ISLE CITY - Harbor Outfitters will hold its secondannual Fish Alley Paddle FestSaturday, Aug. 9 in Sea Isle City.
Originally scheduled for July 27, the event was postponed due to inclement weather.Returning this year is the Battle to the Beach, an 8.7-mile standup paddleboard and surf ski race from Sea Isle’s Fish Alley Basin (Park Road) north through Corsons Inlet and out into the ocean, ending at the 35th Street beach. Men must use a 14-foot standup paddleboard, and for women the requirement is 12.5 feet.
The Fish Alley Paddle Fest is a World Paddle Association event in which participants in the long race can earn points in the association.
The race starts 9:30 a.m. and ends on the beach where the Battle on the Beach races, demonstrations and possibly beach yoga will held.
New this year, the Battle on the Beach will include standup paddleboard and kayak relays and SUP-Squatch five-person team races for all ages. There will also be several equipment demonstrations. The starting heat will begin 10:30 a.m.
Participants are advised to bring their own equipment, but there will be some equipment on site for use while supplies last.
“We really want to get all of the community involved,” said Harbor Outfitters owner Tricia Piola. “We just want everyone to come out and have some nice, clean fun.”
