Petawawa SUPers take on CHEO challenge

Kimberley Landry, a volunteer spokesperson and supporter for the Stand Up for CHEO, Stand Up Paddle board fundraiser hits the Petawawa Point Saturday and is all smiles. 
PETAWAWA – The first ever Stand Up For CHEO event for the town made a huge splash at Petawawa Point Beach this Saturday.
More than 40 participants flooded the beach to get in on the action and take on the Stand Up Paddle (SUP) sport.
Participants and supporters of the fundraiser for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) have helped raised more than $25,000, Kimberley Landry, volunteer spokesperson for the Stand Up For CHEO (SUFC) events confirmed.
The Petawawa event was one of three SUFC gatherings and the final. The two other stand up paddling fundraisers were just recently held in Ottawa and Kingston. But Petawawa has certainly helped drive home the goal of reaching that $25,000, Landry said. It’s expected, the $25,000 goal was actually surpassed, but numbers won’t be finalized until next week, Landry said.
