Laird Hamilton toppled by tiny surf during morning paddle at Bondi Beach

 

While he may be known for dominating Hawaii's North Shore, it appears as though Laird Hamilton is struggling with Sydney's currently underwhelming waves.

In Australia for the 2014 Southern Cross Stand Up Paddle (SUP) Festival at Port Stephens this month, the big wave surfer went for a dip at Bondi Beach on Wednesday.

At the beach to showcase his range of stand up paddle boards, Hamilton was knocked from the board - so close to the shore that he was able to stand up in the water.

 

Keeping himself busy during his five day visit to Australia, Hamilton will be making appearances on morning television shows and sport channels.

In addition to media appearances, he'll also be spruiking his range of paddle boards.

 After leaving Sydney, he'll be travelling up the New South Wales coast to Port Stephens.Once at the Southern Cross SUP festival at Shoal Bay, he'll be running demonstrations of his board range and meet fans.

He then went on to appear in the Italian version of Men's Vogue, going on to do a photo shoot with Brooke Shields in 1983.

The International Surfing Association (ISA) is recognized by the International Olympic Committee as the World Governing Authority for Surfing. It was originally founded as the International Surfing Federation in 1964 and has been running the Open Division World Championship since 1964, the World Junior Surfing Championship since 1980, the World Masters Surfing Championship since 2007, the World Bodyboard Championship since 2011, the Hainan Wanning Riyue Bay International Surfing Festival in China, and the World Standup Paddle (SUP) and Paddleboard Championship beginning in 2012. The ISA also sanctions the World Kneeboard Titles and the World Tandem Surfing Championship, and will launch the World Longboard Championship in 2013.

ISA membership includes the surfing National Governing Bodies of 84 countries on five continents. Its headquarters are located in La Jolla, California. Annabel Anderson Dominating Win at Carolina Cup, USA

 

 SUP Champions Tour 2014, Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, USA -- Annabel Anderson proved again why she’s the top of the world of Stand Up Paddleboard racing with another stand out victory in the United States over the weekend repeating her dominating performance of 2013.

The double world champion and 2x Battle of the Paddle Champion kicked off her international campaign in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina with the Carolina Cup, a grueling 13 mile race that starts in the ocean and navigates the Intracoastal Waterway before taking competitors back out to the ocean through an inlet for a final 4 mile stretch of open water. 

 Titled ‘The Graveyard’ it’s the headline event of what has emerged as the biggest multi day SUP festival of it’s kind in the world attracting over 700 athletes from 9 countries.

This year’s event marked the first leg of the newly formed ‘SUP Champions Tour’, a collection of established and existing events that take place annually from April to October.
